Looking forward to chorale’s spring concert

What is black and white and read all over? Well, music, of course! But bringing the notation to life is what rehearsal and performance are all about, and the Inland Chorale, having partaken of the rehearsal part, gave what are arguably the best performances of their nearly two-decade history this past weekend.
Under the talented direction of Jane Atherstone, whose skill and maturity as a choral conductor have blossomed over the years, and with brilliant accompanist Virginia Pritchard, the chorale performed music tender, witty, and wise.
Touching on the talents of local composer Jean Will (“Christmas Comes Tonight”) to the international work of Gian Carlo Menotti and a zany piece by P.D.Q. Bach, the singers — soloists and ensemble — performed with assurance and aplomb, and they can really “loosen up” when required.
Kudos again to Atherstone for rigorously maintaining high musical standards in enunciation and dynamic control.
What a treasure they are to this community. Their next concert series, “Music from the Movies,” will be next year. Can’t wait for spring!
